Portland, Oregon: The Portland Police Bureau found a young girl who had been missing. She was said to be sleeping in a stolen car on Sunday night, September 18.
Yamilet Martinez, who is seven years old, was sleeping in the car that was taken from Southeast 49th and Southeast Powell Boulevard.
The car was described as a 2011 black Honda Civic without licence plates, and it was said to have been stolen around 7 p.m. or just before.
Yamilet has been given an Amber Alert. It said she was about 97 pounds, 4 feet 5 inches tall, and was last seen wearing pink shoes and a yellow shirt that said
"Be kind to each other." Yamilet was found "safe and sound in the area of Laurelhurst Park." She was taken to the PPB's East Precinct to be reunited with her family.
At around 10:35 pm on Sept. 18, an Amber Alert was sent out for the girl who had gone missing. Even though the girl is safe,
no one has been caught yet for the theft and possible kidnapping.
The situation was updated by the Portland Police Department, which said,
"Yamilet Martinez was found safe and sound near Laurelhurst Park. Yamilet was found inside the stolen car. At the East Precinct,
where a command post was set up to coordinate the search for Yamilet, she will soon be reunited with her family.
