Loons shut out by Timbers, lose third straight

The centre backs for Minnesota United keep costing the team points as they try to get into the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Brent Kallman's mistake in the middle of the field led to a corner kick for the Portland Timbers.

Dairon Asprilla beat Michael Boxall to the corner kick header, which led to the Timbers' 1-0 win over Minnesota at Providence Park on Saturday night.

After Bakaye Dibassy's season-ending leg injury, MNUFC gave up six goals in its next two full games.

To stop the slide, manager Adrian Heath changed the team's formation to a 3-5-2. In the back line,

Kemar Lawrence joined Boxall and Kallman. The Timbers are the most recent team to move ahead of the Loons in the Western Conference standings.

, Garcia sent a cross to Amarilla right in front of the goal, but Amarilla's shot went over the crossbar.
