At the end of his speech to the UK, which was broadcast on TV, King Charles III thanked his mother again.

"To my sweet mother, as you start your last great journey to be with my dearly departed father, I just want to say thank you," he said. In his first televised speech as King,

The King said, "Of course, my life will change as I take on my new duties." "I won't be able to give so much of my time and energy to the charities and causes that mean so much to me." 

"But I know that this important work will be done by people I can trust," he said. People expect the British monarch to stay out of politics, and the Queen has stuck to this promise throughout her reign.

Charles has worked on a number of charitable projects, but his main focus has been on protecting the environment.
He said, "Today, I'm proud to make him Prince of Wales,

 the country whose title I've been so honoured to hold for so much of my life and work." 
"With Catherine by his side, I know that our new Prince of Wales and Princess

of Wales will continue to lead and inspire our national conversations," the King said. William is the first person in line to be king. From 2006 to 2013,

, he was in the military and took part in more than 150 helicopter search and rescue missions.

In his speech, he said of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, "I also want to tell them how much I love them as they continue to build their lives overseas."

King Charles III said that his rise to the British throne also meant changes for his family and drew attention to the role that his wife Camilla would be taking on.

"This is also a time of change for my family. I count on the loving help of my darling wife Camilla. In honour of her own royal public service since we got married 17 years ago,

 she becomes my Queen Consort," he said.
"I know she will bring to her new job the same steady commitment to duty that I have come to depend on so much," he said.
