Even though the Padres have established themselves as legitimate playoff contenders, the rivalry has been lopsided for a large portion

of the previous decade, and it has been especially lopsided this season.

But Juan Soto's full impact hasn't yet been felt in these Padres-Dodgers games. And in that regard, I believe there is cause for hope on

the San Diego side of the equation. When the Padres played their most recent series at Dodger Stadium,

Soto had just been acquired through trade. In three games, they were defeated.

The fan base is likely feeling a little dejected about where the Padres stand in relation to the Dodgers.

Perhaps that sensation has also developed inwardly.

This year, the Padres will finish last in the standings for the 12th consecutive year.
