Roberts removes Kimbrel from closer role
Before Friday's game against the Cardinals, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Craig Kimbrel will not be the team's closer
for at least the rest of the regular season. The Dodgers won't have a single closer for the rest of the season.
Roberts said, "I talked to him today, and the plan right now is to switch roles and get him ready to pitch in different innings and different situations."
He was very willing to do whatever would help the team the most. I'm happy about it. "
When the Dodgers got Kimbrel from the White Sox in exchange for outfielder AJ Pollock in April,
, which was a need after longtime closer Kenley Jansen signed with the Braves.
