Twenty-one years after the terrible attack on the World Trade Center, New York kept its promise to never forget.

At the annual ceremony in Lower Manhattan to remember the victims, their families came together.

Twenty-one years ago, an unthinkable act of terror killed thousands of people and left scars on many others that will never go away.  

"It seems like my brother Richard Avery Aronow died just yesterday.

We miss you. We love you. We will never, ever forget," said one relative.

Vice President Kamala Harris attended the annual ceremony with current and former New York leaders.

The ceremony included the traditional moments of silence, the reading of the names, and stories from loved ones.
