Marciano Cantero died on Thursday, September 8, just two weeks after his 62nd birthday, on August 25.

He was the lead singer and bass player for the popular Argentine rock band Los Enanitos Verdes.  

Cantero, whose real name was Horacio Eduardo Cantero Hernández, was in intensive care after having surgery on Sept.

5 for a kidney infection. According to El Tiempo, the singer had one of his kidneys

and part of his spleen taken out at the Cuyo Clinic in his hometown of Mendoza, Argentina. The news of his death

was confirmed on the official Enanitos Verdes Instagram account, which only posted a black ribbon as a sign of A few hours earlier, the account posted a

picture of Cantero with the words "Today and always with you, Marciano" and praying hand emojis as the caption. Cantero, Felipe Staiti (guitar),

"Nectar" and "Traccion Acustica" earned the group two Grammy nominations for best Latin rock/alternative performance.
