The right to vote is one of the most important rights people in the US have. Voting is important for keeping a democracy running well.

National Voter Registration Day was on Tuesday, and Google used its Doodle to show how important this basic right is.

The nonpartisan civic holiday has been celebrated across the US every September since 2012.

It is part of a coordinated effort to get eligible people to sign up to vote. Volunteers and groups from all over the US will hit the streets

on Tuesday to let eligible citizens who might not otherwise know that they can register to vote.
