Velma Gets Key Update In Multiversus

Ok, so when it comes to fighting games with characters from their own franchises, there is a “link” between them that can be seen right away. All of the characters, in one way or another, try to “act” like they do in their games.

Update In Multiversus

This means that you can go and easily see what their attacks, lines, or references are referring to. Fans of Smash Bros, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, Marvel Vs. Capcom, and now Multiversus are all pretty proud of how they connect with fans by showing them familiar things in a fighting game setting. But there is a small catch: if you change the way something looks too much, people might not like it.

For this, we need to look at Multiverses, and specifically Velma. Most people thought that Velma as a whole was an odd choice for the game. Even though she is the smartest member of the Scooby Gang and pretty much solves all of the mysteries, you could easily say that she wasn’t the “most physical” character. That would have been Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, but Shaggy’s “Ultra Instinct” form is already in the game. She is still in the game, though, and she has a “finisher” that made a lot of people look at her funny when they saw it.

Multiverses, and specifically Velma

Most of the time, when Velma “solved the mystery,” she went to the “villain” and called the police, who then arrested the people. At first, this seems like it won’t hurt anyone. After all, in many Scooby-Doo shows, the police come after the mystery is solved because the bad guy has to be locked up for their crimes. But in the context of a video game like this, it kind of gets a lot of mean comments and memes.

For example, Velma was called “a Karen” because she always called the police on everyone. Velma is not at all like Karen. Also, some people on the internet thought it was funny to take pictures of Velma calling the police on another character in the game by using Lebron James. This is a reference to the Black Lives Matter movement, which is still very important, but this meme turns it into a joke.

So, in a new update, the Multiverses team changed the swap so that instead of calling the police, she calls the Mystery Machine to “hold” the character for a while so Velma can do some damage to it. It’s not the best swap, since that’s not usually what happens on the show, but it’s better than what could have happened.
