Thomas Houseago’s first show in the Nordic countries is at the Sara Hildén Art Museum in Tampere, Finland. Thomas Houseago is a well-known artist from all over the world. Houseago is showing his own sculptures and paintings at the Tampere show. He is also showing a series of ceramics by Nick Cave and sculptures by Brad Pitt. Cave and Pitt are already well-known in their fields of music and movies, but this is the first time they’ve ever shown their artworks made during a conversation with Houseago.

I’m very happy and proud that Thomas Houseago chose to bring WE to Tampere. It is also exciting to see Nick Cave and Brad Pitt show a new and different side of their art. We send a strong message about working together, making something new, and feeling like a part of a community. This fits with Tampere, which is known for being able to change and make bold decisions as a group. “In these troubled times, the message that we need to work together and depend on each other is very powerful,” says Anna-Kaisa Ikonen, the mayor of Tampere.

Aside from the WE exhibition at Sara Hildén, autumn and winter in Tampere are full of bright and interesting art. Starting on October 8, the Tampere Art Museum will show rare pieces from Finnish art foundations. Helene Schjerfbeck, Ellen Thesleff, Fanny Churberg, Akseli Gallen-Kallela, and Tyko Sallinen are some of the artists whose work is in the show. The other Tampere museums, like Vapriikki, have things for the whole family to do. Kids love the Moomin Museum in particular.

The Tampere Philharmonic plays both well-known old pieces and new ones. There will be exciting concerts from all over the world at the brand-new Nokia Arena. Tampere is also the theatre capital of Finland. There are a lot of great musicals, dramas, comedies, and crime stories in the theatres of Tampere.

There are direct flights from Tampere to many cities in Europe, such as Amsterdam, Oslo, Malaga, Riga, and Munich. It is also easily accessible from Helsinki, the capital of Finland. For example, it takes about 1.5 hours by train to get from Helsinki to Tampere.
