Rumor Tons of PSVR2 Devs Porting PSVR Games to New Headset

It doesn’t come as much of a surprise that PSVR2 won’t work with older games. The truth is that Sony’s new headset has two brand-new controllers that are completely different from the PS Move in terms of how they track movement and how they are set up. Even the DualSense controller doesn’t have the lightbar of the DualShock 4, so you can’t play games like Astro Bot Rescue Mission.

So, what will happen to all those great games for PSVR? Well, we’ve been hearing for a while that developers are working on ports of their best-selling virtual reality games, and YouTube channel PSVR Without Parole has confirmed this. In response to a disappointed fan on Twitter, the company said, “Lots of developers are working on PSVR2 versions of their PSVR games right now!”

We think the big question is how these re-releases will be delivered: should we expect free updates, and discounted upgrade fees, or will we have to buy the games all over again? It’s likely that developers will work on each case individually, and there won’t be a solution that works for everyone. We personally hope that there will be at least some small ways for current owners to upgrade.

But there is a chance to really improve some of the best games. Beat Saber already plays pretty well with PS Move wands, but it will feel much more responsive with the PSVR2 Sense Controllers, especially with the haptic feedback and other features. The same is true for Blood & Truth, an ambitious action game that pushed the original hardware to its limits.

We hope Sony will show us what’s going on soon. Even though it’s great to see some hands-on previews of the hardware this week, the Japanese giant still seems to be holding back, doesn’t it?
