Christine reveals Kody refused to help her put their kids to bed when she was pregnant on the ‘Sister Wives’ premiere

On Sunday’s season 17 premiere of TLC’s “Sister Wives,” Christine Brown talked about a warning sign in her marriage to Kody Brown.

Christine reveals Kody refused to help her put their kids

Christine says that their marriage started to “fall apart” when she was pregnant with their youngest daughter, Truely, in 2009. This was during the first season of the family’s reality show.

“I still had to make some money, so I worked at night, and my oldest daughter, Aspyn, who was in fifth grade, put the kids to bed at night,” she said in a solo interview on Sunday’s episode. Christine also said that at the time, Aspyn, who was 10 years old, “ran the house.”

She said, “I asked Kody, ‘I need your help,’ and he said, ‘I can’t do that, I’m in other houses.'” At the time, the Brown family lived in a big house with apartments attached to it. Christine said that she told Kody this, but he still wouldn’t help her take care of their kids.

Christine and Kody already had Aspyn

Christine and Kody already had Aspyn and four other children when she got pregnant with Truely: a son, Paedon, and three daughters, Mykelti, Gwendlyn, and Ysabel.
Kody told the cameras in his own interview that the thing Christine was talking about “never happened.”

“She didn’t want to be treated the same as the other wives; she wanted more,” he said. “She asked for things I couldn’t give her because I had other wives and children to take care of, too.”

Christine and Kody told people in November that they were ending their “spiritual” marriage of more than 25 years. “It’s Over,” the title of the season 17 premiere of “Sister Wives” on Sunday, was mostly about the first talk the former couple had about breaking up.

COVID-19 rules stopped him from staying there.

Christine also brought up the fact that Kody rarely came to her house before his strict COVID-19 rules stopped him from staying there.

Christine said in her solo interview, “Let’s just say we’ve lived here for 800 days,” referring to Flagstaff, Arizona, where the family has lived since 2018. “He went hiking with us once. He went kayaking with us twice, but one time he didn’t even get in the water. That’s three times he’s gone with us, out of 800.”

In his solo interview, Kody responded to Christine’s claim by saying, “I don’t have time to play like she does. I have a lot of work to do and a lot of responsibilities.”

Travelling was dangerous during COVID-19.

“It’s like, what do you do all day? It can’t be cooking and cleaning, because then…” he added before giving up. Listen, I don’t have anything to say. This isn’t the first time the show has shown that Kody’s relationship with his kids and Christine isn’t perfect.

In season 16 of the show, Kody decided not to go to New Jersey when Ysabel had surgery for scoliosis because travelling was dangerous during COVID-19. Instead, their daughter went with only Christine.

At the time, Ysabel said of her father’s choice, “I think his priorities are a little off.”
