Chrissy Teigen said Thursday that she was surprised to discover that the miscarriage she said she had two years ago was actually an abortion.
Teigen and her husband, John Legend, said that they lost their son Jack at 20 weeks due to a problem with the pregnancy in September 2020. At the time, they said the baby had died during the pregnancy.
At a social impact agency called Propper Daley’s “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” summit on Thursday (September 15), Teigen said that she was surprised to find out that it was an abortion. When I was pregnant with Jack, John, and my third child two years ago, I had to make a lot of hard and painful choices. “About halfway through, it became obvious that he would not live and that neither would I without medical help,” she said.
Chrissy Teigen Reveals She Had an Abortion
Teigen, who has two kids with Legend, Luna, 6, and Miles, 4, and is pregnant, said she had great medical care and loving friends and family to help her. She was also thankful to the strangers who came up to her and told her they were there for her and her husband after the news got out.
She talked more about her miscarriage until she stopped herself. “Let’s just call it what it was,” the star said. “It was an abortion.” “I had an abortion to save my life, but it was for a baby who had no chance at all. And to be honest, I didn’t put two and two together until a few months ago. “
Teigen said she realized this after Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court earlier this summer. She told Legend that she felt sorry for people who had abortions because of what they had to go through and the emotional decision they had to make. Legend then told her that she was one of those people.
Save My Life for a Baby
“I stopped talking because I felt weird that I hadn’t seen it that way,” Teigen said. “I told everyone that we had a miscarriage. Everyone agreed that we had a miscarriage, and that’s what all the headlines said. And I felt stupid that it took me over a year to figure out that we had an abortion.
Teigen gave a speech titled “We Made That Choice.” The invite-only event took place at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills. It was put on in partnership with the culture change agency Invisible Hand, and The Hollywood Reporter was a media partner. The event included a full day of programming meant to bring together TV writers, producers, and executives with people who are working to change the culture.
